Childbirth Education

Empowering expectant families to make their own best decisions in childbirth and parenting.

“We were told before enrolling in Natalie's class that she was ‘the one’ to work with in Chicago and were not disappointed! The class was informative and we felt empowered to advocate for ourselves at the hospital. Natalie helped us develop realistic expectations about the challenges of labor without being too idealistic or rigid with our birth plan. Thank you Natalie for sharing your experience and wisdom with us!”

- Laura

Natalie has been a childbirth educator for nearly 25 years, teaching classes at locations in the community and online. She approaches birth from a holistic perspective, introducing the range of experiences to expect during labor and educating clients to be able to make informed choices that align with their needs and values. Natalie offers services within a framework that supports gender expansiveness, neurodiversity, antiracism, and weight neutrality.

See below for education options Natalie currently offers, including online childbirth education workshops and classes, as well as private sessions with individual clients.

Birth Basics Workshop

This 2-hour session explores techniques to help you and your partner through labor and birth. Students learn how labor begins, what to expect from each stage of labor, and hands-on ways that partners can support throughout the process. You’ll leave with a variety of techniques to help manage contractions through each stage, as well as specific comfort measures for home and hospital. Whether you’ve already taken a childbirth class but are looking for labor-specific tips, or are having a second (or third!) baby and need a refresher, this workshop is the perfect way to get ready for your baby’s birth. Recommended for birthing people in their third trimester of pregnancy.

Childbirth Prep Class

The Children Prep Class takes place virtually over three 2-hour sessions. This class is designed to prepare expecting families to move through the labor process in an informed and empowered way. The classes help expectant parents understand the stages of giving birth, what options are available to them, and how to make choices in childbirth. Students learn hands-on comfort measures to help the birthing person through their contractions, how to communicate with their caregivers, and make decisions based on informed choices.

Private Childbirth Education Classes

If you’re looking for an individualized setting to learn about childbirth, private classes are available and can be tailored to your specific interests and needs. Class content can cover any of the topics from my Birth Basics Workshop or Childbirth Prep Class, including helpful handouts of information covered.

Private classes take place virtually and are $50 per hour. Please reach out to Natalie to learn more about scheduling a private class.
